Spring fashion 2014: The top 10 trends on the runways this season

References to hibernation aside, spring always feels like a reawakening. This season’s runways offered a series of wake-up calls by way of unique pairings, new approaches to femininity and dramatic looks. The constantly re-emerging athletic trend has gone straight up hood, with street-approved jerseys, retro bombers and low-slung pants giving it new life. Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY were bastions of the trend, going head-to-toe in neoprene and nylon. Marni, The Row and Steven Tai accessorized with sports flair, bringing glammed up baseball hats to the forefront. A plain ole Yankees ball cap will simply not do (unless it’s a Yonce version).Prints, specifically art-inspired ones, were all the rage in Spring     fashion’s 2014 MO. Big graphic prints stole the shows at Céline, Chanel and Christian Dior, each creating vibrant pieces in homage to the modernist aesthetic. And it would be a mistake to omit Prada’s graphic coats, heralding back the colours of Roy Lichtenstein in custom-done designs by modern artists. Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana kept things old school, preferring to pay respects to the renaissance aesthetic of rich embroidery, details and iconography, made contemporary through sheer fabrics and bare skin. In both cases, an art-inspired statement proved bold and unexpected. While pastels are something that we normally associate with spring, they were given new life thanks to the textured ensembles sent out by Burberry and Barbara Bui. Oscar de la Renta and Prabal Gurung showed evening gowns in unexpected cerulean. Why go for a sprinkling of blue when the whole outfit will do?Metallics and shine were also hits, often blended in combination looks. Altuzzara’s skirts in liquid metallic hues were amongst the most buzzworthy looks of the season—not only because of their fluidity but also because of their styling with a striped silk shirt. Marc by Marc Jacobs and Lanvin both sent out sequined jumpsuits, a glammed up version of a casual evening wear staple. And while some of last year’s trends carried over, Spring fashion circa 2014 was all-new. The 1990s reappeared for its third season in a row, this time done up with minimalist flair.Perhaps this season is yet another post-modern mix: Mod tribal print sportswear? Liquid gold skirts? Pastel crop tops? Skin baring outfits in head to toe pastels? Why not!

Street style Tokyo

If you ever wondered of the correlation between population density and amount of style in an urban centre, Tokyo is the perfect place to test your theories. After some time exploring the city and breaking through the (many) language barriers, photographers Ania Boniecka and Tyler Stalman ended up on the streets of Harajuku, just off the main stretch of Omotesando (a shopping heaven) to style stalk the world’s most famous street style destination. Long gone are the Harajuku girls of the Gwen Stefani fame, while you can still see some elaborately decked out in Victorian and steam punk motifs, the way has been paved for a new generation of fashion obsessed trend setters. The aesthetic has become more street style in Tokyo, and less costume. Bart Simpson and Mickey Mouse rule and there is no such thing as too much, right or wrong or too colourful, the theme is strictly fashion play and the Japanese have a lot of fun. Even those focusing their attention elsewhere can feel their street style senses tingling. Say hello to your new Tokyo muses.

Moschino: The first fashion show jeremy scott

The parade begins Moschino forty-five minutes behind schedule. From our elevated position we have already seen before Rita Ora and then Katy Perry arrive, pose for the photographers and sit in the front row packed. The room is full of energy and expectations, on the other hand we are about to witness the first collection designed by the American designer Jeremy Scott after Rossella Jardini and the wait can not dent our enthusiasm.
Early Pre-Fall from a busy and very popular, the show finally starts, the lights go out and immediately recognize the unmistakable notes of From Disco To Disco, for those who grew up in the 90s like us is the equivalent of the YMCA for 80 years. Currently we can not not dance and do not move to the beat while the first models begin their long walk holding McDonald's-chic, orange and yellow signage, trays instead of bringing Happy Meal bags are quilted with the unmistakable M that takes the shape of a heart. A bathrobe becomes a soft coat with a waist belt, accessories are soft drinks and fast food box and the logo Moschino reigns on the profiles of jackets etiquette. The music changes and their rapping Run DMC Walk This Way, as they appear superimposed golden necklaces and belts, fingerless gloves and stuffed full. Badass and hip hop, with the mini-jacket, the signature bedding that hints at Calvin Klein and gold, which expands on the catwalk. The audience screams of joy and it's time Spongebob, which invades oversized pullovers, shoulder bags and shoes with his unmistakable plea "Swiss cheese." We think, "It's all over. Here are the latest releases," but no. From the disc and hip hop the jump to La Traviata seems impossible, but Jeremy Scott obviously does not know the meaning of "impossible" and here's a series of crazy clothes, pop prints depicting the most famous packs of chips, popcorn , soups and American chocolate, scroll on dowry Libiamo.
An ode to consumerism, in years past, the junk food, music, and a celebration of irony reach the highest terms of the Maison signature Italian. A parade of which we speak the next day, the one that burns Instagram, shot after shot, that has turned into "uuuuh girls" making us dance and excite. What a true debut show should be. Thanks Moschino. And thanks Jeremy.
